Thru a chemical pr
ocess called saponification, a soap is produced. Soap is one of the oldest and most simplest cleanser. In the old day, the basic raw materials of soap are animal fat (tallow) and/or unrefine vegetable oil. Unrefine vegetable oil (depending on the type of vegetable oil used), has it own natural goodness, it contain complex fatty acids, glycerin and vitamins, that was why in the old day, soap was used from head to toe and has multi purposes usage. Now what is found in mass market of soap, the main ingredient contain only one to two types of fatty acid, namely palmitate and stearate acids. Some even contain carriers like calcium powder to make up the weight.We believe the nature works it best, so we use unrefine vegetable oil, namely palm kernel oil - which is one of the main primary product in Malaysia. The beneficial of palm kernel oil is it contains variety of fatty acids, vitamin E and carotenoid. In addition, it also provides optimal lather.The production of soap we made is a hot-mix process, it commonly known as glycerin soap. It could be transparent, translucent or opaque, depending on the ingredients being mixed. Cosmetically, glycerin soap has more goodness than other cold-mix soap. The most obvious one is the moisturising effect because of it higher glycerin content.
Characteristics of soap
1) pH
All natural derived soap has high pH, the reading usually around 10. There is some advantage and disadvantage of this high pH. Soap at this pH helps to remove oil on our body easily, and at the same time neutralize our body's acidity caused by bacteria. Some individual's skin has little acid tolerant, a slightly more acidic will cause rashes, and it needs soap's pH to balance it acidity. In fact natural soap provide more deep-cleansing power than synthetic soap. Unfortunate for some dry skin individual, ordinary soap clean too deeply, and glycerin soap helps to reduce the dryness caused by ordinary soap.
2) Negative charge
Soap is instinctively negative charge. Negative charge helps to balance the positive charge particles like dead skin and dirt. And the water help to carry away dead skin and dirt during rinsing.
